D1. Surabaya – Bromo (D)

WELCOME IN EAST JAVA Arrival time at either Surabaya railway station or Juanda Surabaya airport – drive east, check-in hotel. After dinner, it’s advisable to go to sleep early to catch the 04.00 Jeep to Mt. Pananjakan.

D2. Bromo – Ijen (B, L, D)

Get up at 3.45, your experienced 4 wheel jeep driver will take you to Mt. Pananjakan through a bumpy and steeply road. 200 meters from there, you had better choose a strategic place to see the sunrise, the place is normally packed with tourists in the dry season. It is one of the most spectacular sceneries in Indonesia.

 

Driving back to Mt. Bromo, you may tell the driver to stop at a convenient place to take more pictures.  Walk towards the foot of the volcano ( 900 m ), a lot of horse masters will offer you to ride on their horses. It is fun unless you feel sorry for those little animals carrying tourists every day!  It’s time to ‘climb’ the volcano through the “stairway to heaven” and walk on the rim of the volcano. Back to Hotel, and have to breakfast at the restaurant, check out from the hotel, and proceed to Ijen. c/i hotel, have a break or walk around the hotel.

D3. A climb To Ijen – Sukamade ( B,L,D )

Breakfast at 04.00, drive to starting point Paltuding and climb to the top of Ijen and see the special scenery of the crater. The trek to the top was easy as the sulfur collectors normally carry the baskets sulfur weighing 50 up to 105 kgs! And most of them do that twice a day. If you are on top of Ijen crater, you will be very much tempted to go down to the crater. Your guide will decide whether it is safe to go down and will give you a short brief on how to breathe with the mask in case the wind blows this very toxic gas to your face!  Back to the starting point and drive down to Jajag. Lunch en route. Change to four-wheelers, enjoyed the bumpy road thru rubber, cacao, and coffee plantation before into Meru Betiri National Park a  mentioned as nest of  Java Tiger that almost gone. Arrive in Sukamade Ranger Guesthouse, dinner and overnight ( sharing accommodation ). After dinner, a short walk thru the rain forest to Sukamade Beach. If we are lucky, we will see the natural process the blue turtles lay and save their own eggs in white sand beach. Walk back to the guesthouse overnight.

D4. Sukamade – Ketapang Harbour ( B )

Get up at 6.00! walk back to the beach to release baby Turtle. Having breakfast and drive back to Jajag and continued to Ketapang Harbour............end of the trip
